Lookee what I got int he mail! It's a super awesome subscription box from GlobeIn!
Through GlobeIn you can subscribe to receive a basket that contains a carefully selected variety of food and crafts made by farmers and artisans from all over the world. You can buy from GlobeIn with a clear conscious as all goods are fair-trade and every month they feature one artisan or artisan collective and ask the public to crowd-fund their special project.
On to this glorious box. As you can see it's not really a subscription "box". Oh, it's better than that. It's a subscription basket! Behold! And take a gander at all the goodies that came inside.
The Boca Java coffee is from Nicaragua and the kitchen towel was traditionally hand woven in Guatemala. If you get yourself a basket like this one, just a warning: you can smell the coffee right the through the bag and you won't be able to stop sniffing it - the aroma is absolutely intoxicating. Just do yourself a favor and brew that right up so you wont look insane smelling a sealed bag of coffee all day.
The pure ground vanilla come from Madagascar and the mini tagine below was hand made and painted in Tunisia by Le Souk Ceramique. The tagine is hands-down my favorite item from the basket and my runner up is a tie between the hand woven kitchen towel...
...and the pink salt. Ok, confession time. I am totally addicted to pink salt. Every night I sprinkle a little coarse ground pink salt onto a saucer and pick out the dark crunchy bits. It's my late night snack. Is that weird?
Anywho the salt is from Sacred Valley, Peru and look at that - doesn't it look beautiful in that gorgeous tagine? Now I can eat my salt in style.
Oh, hush up. Don't judge me.
And last but not least is this delicious coconut palm sugar from Java, Indonesia. Coconut palm sugar is new to me so I had no idea what to expect when I opened the package. It's crunchy but much softer than cane sugar. My son and I simply ate the sugar from packet. The granules are so large and delicious it's hard not to nibble at it. I'll be sure to try some in my Boca Java coffee tomorrow morning.
